Cleveland, OH, June 29, 2025 — Progressive Insurance may be the second largest car insurer in the United States. But it cares about what each of its employees thinks.
The Mayfield-based company of 66,000, which is in the midst of hiring another 12,000 employees, works with Gallup on an Engagement and Culture survey and allows suggestions to management, as well as personal thoughts.
The goal is to cultivate an environment that promotes diversity, inclusiveness, and work/life balance, as well as employee productivity.
For those efforts, the company has been named one of Northeast Ohio’s Top Workplaces for 16 consecutive years. This year, it won the Mega category.
For the 2025 Top Workplaces list, cleveland.com and the Plain Dealer compiled more than 180 stand-out Northeast Ohio employers based on employee surveys. Find the full list and stories on the top three winners in each of four categories at cleveland.com/top-workplaces.
According to Aimee Carcioppolo, senior campus recruiter at Progressive, most employees say the people make the company unique from other Cleveland corporations.
“Every year, we have our Gallup survey, and for the 25 years I’ve worked here, survey takers always point out the camaraderie among the people,” she said. “We try to ensure that everybody’s happy... Our company thrives in making people feel valued because we have had employees here for 25-30 years. I recently heard someone is celebrating 43 years of service.”
Although working at home is a preferred option for the majority of employees, other workers have expressed an interest in being around colleagues.
According to Carcioppolo, most of Progressive’s roles don’t require someone to enter the office. Approximately 97% can work from home, she said.
Progressive managers offer many ways to support team building, even with employees based across the country. That includes developing skills that can lead to other employment opportunities within the company. It also involves communicating with colleagues from different departments, watching online training videos and spending time with other workers to see what they do.
The company facilitates team building among out-of-state remote workers with a week of in-office activities, dinners and more.
